Have you ever considered volunteering as a therapy animal team? Pet Partners invites prospective volunteers to attend free, one-hour informational webinars (online interactive presentations) to learn about our Therapy Animal Program. Led by experienced volunteers with the assistance of Pet Partners staff, these sessions will cover the process for becoming a registered therapy animal team with your pet.
If you’re not able to attend an upcoming live session, you can watch a recorded version of a previous session by clicking the Play button for “Volunteering with Your Pet” at the bottom of this page.
As part of our commitment to education and engagement, Pet Partners offers a variety of webinars for volunteers, pet owners, and the general public. Session registration is generally available on our website 4-6 weeks in advance of the event. Webinars feature live presentations with question/answer opportunities. Webinars are free but you must register to reserve a space for each webinar.
Pet Partners and Veterans Health Administration (VHA) recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the goal of supporting veteran health and well-being through increased access to therapy animals. As part of our ongoing commitment to provide handlers with continuing education opportunities, we’ve invited Catherine Dubicki, MSEd, Education Specialist and Veterans Research Engagement Board Coordinator at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, to share general information and resources about suicide prevention, as well as tips for interacting with veterans during a therapy animal visit. This webinar is open to current and prospective therapy animal handlers who are interested in visiting at facilities that support our service members.
Requests for therapy animal visits at airports and other transportation centers are taking off, so we’ve asked Patti Anderson, airport volunteer, team evaluator and former National Program Educator, to share general information about visiting in airports, as well as tips for starting a therapy animal program at an airport. This webinar is open to current and prospective therapy animal handlers interested in visiting at airports or other transportation hubs.
June is PTSD Awareness Month, so we’ve invited Dr. Abigail Angkaw, a consultant with the National Center for PTSD, a clinical psychologist, Associate Professor at UCSD, and Section Chief at the VA San Diego, to share general information about Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), as well as tips for interacting with veterans during a therapy animal visit. This webinar is open to current and prospective therapy animal handlers interested in visiting at facilities that support our service members.
