Pet Partners invites prospective volunteers to attend free, one-hour informational webinars (online interactive presentations) to learn about our Therapy Animal Program. Led by experienced volunteers with the assistance of Pet Partners staff, these sessions will cover the process for becoming a registered therapy animal team with your pet.

2018 Webinars for Therapy Animal Teams

Pet Partners is pleased to offer live webinar sessions which occur on the third Thursday of every month. Topics  for each offering will be announced throughout the year. While these webinars are particularly relevant to current handlers, enrollment is open to everyone and we invite volunteer instructors, team evaluators, and prospective handlers to join us as well.

Are you Ready to Evaluate? (New & Returning Teams)

May 15, 2018, 2:30 p.m. Pacific Time

This 40 minute webinar will help prepare handlers for their team evaluation. We will focus on skills to build, common questions, what to expect the day before and the day of, and other timely pieces of information. Attendees should be familiar with the Pet Partners Therapy Animal Program general requirements. For a good overview watch Volunteering With Your Pet.

Evaluation Master Class

June 19, 2018, 2:30 p.m. Pacific Time

In 40 minutes you will have your questions answered about planning to evaluate for current or lapsed teams. If you wish to change the equipment you visit with, achieve a new rating, evaluate early, or achieve a Youth Endorsement this session is for you. We will also cover evaluations with multiple animals and adding a new team registration. Attendees should be familiar with the Pet Partners Therapy Animal Program general requirements and have evaluated once before.

Grieving the Loss of a Client

July 17, 2018, 2:30 p.m. Pacific Time

Many volunteers, especially those who visit in healthcare settings, may experience the passing of a client. This 40-minute webinar will address the grief that such loss may bring about as well as some healthy approaches to debriefing and self-care we recommend volunteers use in such situations.
