In Loving Memory of Mazel: A Therapy Dog Who Brightened Lives

Dr. Judy Bin-Nun
Pet Partners Handler

Mazel was a beloved Pet Partner who worked with the UCLA PAC Team starting at the age of 1. Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with a sudden and shocking case of eye cancer. Surrounded by her family, including her “Pack” of Pitzel (her nephew, whom she raised as a pup), Sheppy, and her devoted human family, she crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Despite the efforts to fight this incurable disease, there was no way to save her.

We are grateful for the eight years Mazel brought joy and light to our lives. She was truly the sweetest Griffon. Mazel was a Complex Rated Pet Partner, a READ Therapy Dog, and a cherished member of the UCLA PAC Team. She was also an AKC Novice Agility Jumper (NAJ), loving her agility classes. Mazel was known for showering love, raising baby Pitzel, and sharing her special ballet dances and affectionate kisses.

Though she left us far too soon, we are welcoming a new addition to our family—Simi, a 3 ½-month-old Griffon from Mazel and Pitzel’s breeder. Simi is already showing his promise, sitting on command and reliably giving a “high five.” We hope he will carry on the teachings from Mazel and Sheppy.

We will forever bless every moment Mazel graced our lives. Her spirit will be greatly missed by Dr. Judy Bin-Nun, Sheppy, Pitzel, and Baby Simi.
