Volunteer Stories

I never counted people and can’t imagine the actual numbers over the years of those who we met and visited with, as well as those who stopped us on the way in or out of a visit, or in a hallway, while we were onsite. And most special of all was meeting all the other wonderful therapy pet teams!

I am truly blessed to be given the opportunity to belong to such a wonderful organization, and be able to touch so many lives with love and compassion, as well as to comfort the elderly and the dying, making them feel that someone really cares about them, especially the ones that have no family.

Just seeing all the patients and visitors that smile when they see you coming that just make you smile right back.

We LOVE what we do!!!

To see Megan do her job so effortlessly while trusting me to be her advocate and partner epitomizes what Megan and I strive for as a therapy team.

Mora seems to touch the lives of many people who come into contact with her.

We took our dogs around to all the rooms so that residents who were unable to come down to the dining room could have their pictures taken with them. We brought smiles and happy tears to everyone we met.  This truly was a wonderful visit with the residents and staff.

He went through the entire process with ease, proving once again that he would make an incredible therapy cat. He had overcome so many challenges up to that point, and it was amazing to see just how far he had come. He continues to make me proud every day.

But when the Love Dogs showed up, the mood changed. It was palpable. You could feel the tension lessen and as the students clamored around the five dogs, they relaxed.
